I’m quite convinced that I don’t have a green thumb. My last attempt of growing some sort of plants failed miserably, mind you, I wasn’t trying to grow orchids or anything sophisticated at all. I tried to grow succulents. I don’t know what went wrong, maybe Cikarang was too hot for succulents, maybe the dorm didn’t have a very good air circulation, or maybe I just happened to pour something poisonous on them
.
So now, I’m trying to renew my relationship with plants. I figured that I have to take baby steps so I should really start with something easy, possibly easier than succulents.
There was a Pets and Garden bazaar in front of ITC Permata Hijau yesterday, so I decided to take a look.
Shopkeeper: Looking for something? We have pretty adeniums ^^
Me : Oh what’s that ?
Shopkeeper : (showing a row of pretty bonsai-like tiny trees with colourful flowers)
Me: Actually, I’m looking for something really really easy to take care of. I’m a newbie ^^
Shopkeeper: You can try the aglaonema (showing rows after rows of interesting looking foliages), they only need to be watered twice a week, and don’t need too much sunlights.
Me : (hmm … this sounds like the right plant for me)
Shopkeeper: (pointing at one type of aglaonema) that one is called Madame Suroyo.
Me: ????
Shopkeeper: (points at another) that one is called Siti Nurhaliza, and that one over there is Lady Valentina
Me: -_-” Righttt…
Shopkeeper: Oh, how about this one?
Me: What’s her name -_-?
Shopkeeper: Lipstick!
Simple name with cute red-green colours sealed the deal. I decided to take Lipstick home ^^ ! We’ll see how Lipstick goes, I hope I’m doing it right this time.
This is a picture of her:
I wonder if Siti Nurhaliza knows that her name is used for a foliage. She must be thrilled.

hmm..i like adenium better
my girl said adenium is a desert plant, so i think it is strong enough to be taken care by you :p and most of all, the big one can be sold at very high price
Adenium is very pretty, but I killed succulents before , succulents are almost like cactus -.-” Nevertheless, Adenium is next on my list ^.^
Well, looking at history of relationship between you and plants, i think cactus is the most suitable one for you. No need to water that often, end for sure if you cough you can use the magic of cactus
*can u find what?
errr… you can eat cactus’ flesh like what the cowboys did in the movies ?
Grow daun pandan … heheh
good idea ! pandan is super useful for cooking ^^
Aglaonema is also called ‘Sri rejeki’ in INA. Mgkin bsa bawa rejeki kali yah. :p hehehhe. Its lovely San. We have ‘Super Pride’ in our front garden. The leaves color actually depend on the intensity of sunlight. You can also try baby rose. Its easy to care, has flower power but it needs lots of sunlight.
wow.. cool name “sri rejeki” , baru tahu juga, ada yang namanya Super Pride segala hahha. Baby Rose ya ? Kayaknya yg ada nama rose-rose-nya kinda scares me, soalnya ya itu tadi, takut ngga bisa merawatnya. haha, i might try that too.
