That’s why I was super excited when I received the invitation to Lina and Lim.H’s fashion show at Four Seasons Hotel, Jakarta. I know very well that both Lina and Lim are very proud of their Indonesian heritage and Batik will definitely play a huge role in their designs. The event was ambitiously-titled “Adhikarya Dewangga”, sanskrit for “The Fabric Masterpiece”.

The event opened up with their ladies’ collection followed by menswear. All of the showcased collections is ready-to-wear, no outrageous crazy out-of-this world couture. I love most of them ! Especially

  5. Flowers

Yesterday I casually told Hubby that he never gave me bouquet of flowers, not even during our courtship days. It was probably kinda immature for me to complain about it. I never doubt that Hubby loves me, I just wondered why.

I restrained myself from being so blunt because that’s not how it work ! It’ll be so unromantic if I have to literally ask for it. On our wedding day, he did give me my hand bouquet but that was so goddamn staged ! He had to give it to me because it’s listed in the photographer’s list of pics to be taken, and because we both paid for the bouquet

  7. The Tails of Ibu Linda

Living in Indonesia is harsh. It’s harsh for humans and even worse for our four-legged friends. Rawa Buaya in West Jakarta is a crowded and messy part of Jakarta strategically located near the airport and industrial area. Most of its areas are now developed into good residential areas, but the rest, remains a shanty town. People who live there earn their living by doing whatever they can do from selling scrap metals, collecting plastic bottles, house-keeping, to odd jobs like slaughtering dogs!

  9. Deadly Food

Ade Namnung is a renowned Indonesian comedian who recently passed away due to heart attack. Just a few weeks ago, the news said he was hospitalised in Surabaya because of stroke. I was very surprised to learn that Ade is still very young, 34 years old . I always thought he’s in his 40s. Stroke, heart attack, these should’ve been 50-somethings nightmares. Looks like obesity-related diseases like stroke, heart problems, diabetes are killing Indonesians faster than Transjakarta buses. According to Yastroki, Indonesia has the largest number of stroke patients in Asia. Ohmygawd +_+ And truth is , it’s not easy to be in Indonesia and not indulge in food.

Food surrounds us, it’s a cultural thing, Indonesians eat and eat and eat… from greasy risoles, croquettes, pastel, calorie-packed snacks like kaastengel and nastar, then there’s rendang, ayam kalasan, gudeg, kambing guling, gule, tongseng, ughh… and don’t forget Durian for desserts and over-the-top pink Soda Gembira to finish. Maybe it’s good to remember the days when Indonesians have nothing to eat but cassava and tempe was a luxury. Chicken? Whoaa.. that’s rich people’s food.

What if we have one day a week to simply observe that? I bet that could’ve saved many lives.
